Chi Eta Phi
The local chapter Theta was chartered on April 4, 1948. The Philadelphia-based Chapter emerged through the combined efforts of registered nurses in the Nurses Alumnae of Douglass Memorial Hospital and the sorority’s national officers. The programs and projects of Theta Chapter stem from our National mandates. Chi Eta Phi Sorority Inc® is a professional organization of registered professional nurses and student nurses representing various cultures and diverse ethnic backgrounds. The organization was chartered at Freedman’s Hospital in Washington, DC., in 1932. There are over 110 graduate and multiple undergraduate chapters in 33 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Our theme is “Developing Healthy Communities through Advocacy, Collaboration, Education, Leadership, Research, and Service” (chietaphi.org).

Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated ® is a professional organization for registered professional nurses and student nurses (male and female) representing many cultures and diverse ethnic backgrounds. More than 8000 Registered Nurses and Student Nurses hold membership in Chi Eta Phi Sorority Incorporated ®.
Chi Eta Phi Sorority Incorporated vision is to be an internationally recognized leader in developing healthy communities through advocacy, collaboration, education, leadership, research, and service.
Their mission is to:
• Encourage the pursuit of continuing education
• Recruit programs for health careers
• Stimulate close and friendly relationships with other professional groups
• Identify core nursing leaders who affect social changes at the national, regional, local levels
